six rivers national forest

Our camping trip over this past weekend was wonderful- a perfect little summer getaway. We listened to podcasts, read, made campfires, toasted s'mores, hiked, played Scrabble, swam in the river, spent time with friends, fished, and, of course, took lots and lots of pictures.

(One of the podcasts we listened to was all about octopi/octopods/octopusses and it was awesome, so I was especially excited about this mural in Eureka.)

The Eureka grocery co-op.

Phoebe, balancing barbecued chicken on her nose.

Gone fishin'

First catch of the trip, a cutthroat trout.

Hike up French Hill.

Roosevelt elk.

The weather was hot and perfect all weekend and it was a pleasure to spend a few days unwinding in such a beautiful setting. It was a little tough to come back to gray, soggy San Francisco- though I admit I was very excited to take a shower once we got home.

  2. You captured the trip well! Lovely photos. Glad I'm not the only one who made my guy stop for the elk...
