in san diego

While in San Diego, I bicycled around Pacific Beach and drank cheap beer in the afternoon. I attended a drag show in North Park and went dancing in uncomfortably high heels. I slept in, read a few books, and drank wine out on the deck while looking at the ocean. I ate fish tacos at the Taco Shack, a seafood burrito at El Pescador, and a fish sandwich at Point Loma Seafoods. I took an architectural tour of the Salk Institute and acquired a slight sunburn while sunbathing at the Beach and Tennis Club. I took a long walk along Sunset Cliffs and ran along the La Jolla Cove. I made dinner for my grandmother.

Of course, the weather was stunning. Somehow I always seem to forget how beautiful San Diego is, with its cliffs and beaches, the palm trees and the blue skies. It was nice to have some time alone there.

I got back to San Francisco last night, and now I'm trying to get the apartment in order and myself situated before the start of the spring quarter. We're spending the weekend in Napa, so I'll be unpacking and re-packing my bags. Back soon.

a spot of relaxation

Oh, this past week has been long. Really long. But there is light at the end of the tunnel and tomorrow I'm headed to San Diego for a spot of relaxation. I'm hoping to fit in some time at the beach, some Mexican food, and maybe a novel or two. I'm looking forward to spending some time with myself that doesn't involve any textbooks whatsoever.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

weekend in reno

We drove up to Reno last Friday for a short weekend getaway. Our friends moved out there several months back and we finally got around to making the trip up to explore their new town. We had such fun exploring the charming neighborhood they live in (so many cute little restaurants and shops!) and even managed to get out to Mt. Rose for a spot of snow shoeing. A great weekend escape from the city.

In other news, I'm bogged down studying for finals (Securities Regulation on Friday! Such fun.) so I'll be occupied with that for a bit. But then there's spring break, so hopefully I'll be able to stop in here again soon.

in sight

I took this photo a week or two ago. My landlord is having work done on our roof and the noise has been an unwelcome distraction, so I've found myself looking for alternative study locations close by. The above photo was taken at Heartbaker, drinking a glass of wine and making flash cards. I'm feeling a little...apathetic on the school front - it's just hard to muster the energy to care a whole lot about my upcoming finals. It's frustrating; I don't like feeling unmotivated. But I suppose there's just a certain amount of ennui that settles in at this stage.

But still things move forward. Today, I submitted my petition to graduate and registered for the California Bar, offered in July. I'm excited to graduate, less excited to take the bar (though obviously excited to have it over with), but I'm starting to really feel that the finish line is in sight. So there's that.

I hope everyone had a pleasant weekend. Daniel and I made a short trip up to Napa to have dinner with a friend of his from high school and then celebrated our (6th!) anniversary on Sunday. I can't believe March is already here.
